A poem

The wind blows suddenly
and once again, change moves time
the earth feels shaky
as I grasp onto anything within reach

My heart cries out in silence
while people whisper and stare
wondering what could have happened
and how to clean up the mess I’ve made

If only someone would have warned me
the suffering I had in store
I would have acted on the impulses
to become something more

And now, time has fallen beneath my feet
and there is no relief in sight
a silent whisper has no meaning
and children have the next chance
at life to heed the warning

Tomorrow will be here with or without me
no more stagnant water in the stream
as beauty has all but forgotten me
I wait, alone for darkness to cover me

It’s too late
